Yuk-Sing Cheng is a lawyer with a practice that focuses on aboriginal law, environmental and regulatory law, and litigation and dispute resolution.

Yuk-Sing has worked on litigation matters before all levels of courts in Canada, including the Supreme Court of Canada. He has represented clients in proceedings before various administrative tribunals, including the Alberta Utilities Commission, the National Energy Board, the Alberta Human Rights Commission, Subdivision and Development Appeal Boards, the Alberta Surface Rights Board, and the Alberta Energy Regulator, formerly the Energy Resources Conservation Board. He has worked on behalf of landowners and interveners in energy, utility, and environmental hearings involving issues such as electricity transmission lines and infrastructure, land development, and energy and natural resource development.

Yuk-Sing works with Aboriginal communities on issues related to Aboriginal and treaty rights, consultation, governance, regulatory matters, and economic development. He has been involved in negotiating, drafting, and securing impact benefit agreements between First Nations and industry. He takes a practical and solutions-focused approach to his work, and is committed to working with Aboriginal communities to reach their goals.

Yuk-Sing has also worked in impact litigation and constitutional law in Johannesburg, South Africa through a program of the Canadian Bar Association. Through this work, he gained an international and comparative perspective on strategic litigation, human rights, and indigenous law.

Prior to private practice, Yuk-Sing worked in research and public policy, and also brings with him experience in the public and not-for-profit sectors.
