Emily Bonnell joined Ackroyd LLP in the summer of 2019 as an articling student. Emily was raised in Slave Lake, Alberta, and has lived throughout the province in High Level, Brooks, and finally Edmonton.
Emily was called to the Alberta Bar in 2020 and practices in the area of civil litigation and regulatory law with an interest in land use, energy and resource development and Aboriginal rights. Emily has experience with court applications and drafting pleadings.
Prior to her legal career, Emily worked in Edmonton’s non-profit sector while completing a Bachelor of Social Work degree. Emily attended law school at the University of Ottawa during which time she also worked for Level Justice, a non-profit organization that uses the law to advance justice and human rights. In her free time, Emily enjoys yoga, playing ukulele, spending time with friends and family and taking advantage of Edmonton’s arts and festivals.
