Linda joined Ackroyd LLP in 2009 as an associate after having practiced at a boutique law firm in Edmonton.
She is an experienced lawyer providing services mainly to small businesses and their owners. Her clients include individuals, corporations, partnerships and not for profit organizations. She provides legal services in connection with buying and selling businesses, leasing, financing and creating and maintaining business entities, whether corporations, partnerships or not for profits. For business owners and other individuals Linda also provides legal services in the acquisition, financing and sale of land and buildings, of any kind, whether for individuals buying their first home or corporations selling their apartment buildings.
Linda has a passion for the entertainment industry. Having represented producers, writers and performers in film, television and new media for over 30 years, she offers a depth of experience and knowledge on all aspects of the industry, from development and pre-production to financing, insurance, production and distribution.
Linda’s past appointments to noteworthy boards in the entertainment industry include the Edmonton International Film Festival, the National Screen Institute, and Metro Cinema. She recently served as chair of the Broadcast and Regulatory Affairs Committee for the Alberta Media Production Industry Associate. She has also been invited to speak on the topic of entertainment law by such institutes as the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, Grant MacEwan University, and Red Deer College, as well as the Faculties of Law and Fine Arts at the University of Alberta.
In her spare time, Linda enjoys watching cooking shows, flailing in the kitchen and spending time with her grandchildren.
